Divya Aggarwal

Divya Aggarwal completed her post-graduation in Botany (Pharmacognosy) from India and qualified GATE exam. She also received an IASc-INSA-NASI fellowship at this time, which helped strengthening her molecular biology and microbiology skills.

Due to her interest in molecular biochemistry, she joined Roman Sobotka’s group in 2019 to pursue her PhD studies. Her research focuses on the tetrapyrrole biosynthetic pathway producing heme and chlorophyll molecules in the oxygenic phototrophs. Specifically, she is trying to elucidate the function of chlorophyll-binding domain of the ferrochelatase enzyme in the cyanobacteria. She also participated in the research studies of a thylakoid biogenesis protein called BtpA (Skotnicova et al. 2024).
